Understanding The Foundation

Each day as Americans we are subject to the governing authorities of the nation and state in which we live. Why is it that people believe and have the concept that freedom means a lack or absence of authority? That each of us is able to act without conscience of the outcome; nothing could be further from the truth. There are many philosophies, thesis, Beliefs, and concepts to the establishment of government. However, the answer is a simple one.

Contrary to people’s personal beliefs, the God of the Holy Scripture’s institutes all governing authorities. There is no authority for government except that which is given by God In the book of Romans the first chapter states:

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. Romans 13:1-5 (KJV)

When the people resist the authority of God they are, playing Russian roulette with all the chamber’s loaded. In simple English, it is mankind who looses not God. It is Mankind bringing judgment on themselves by resisting the ordinances of God. We are the ones responsible through the ability of free will, which God has provided.

Many people distrust our government … government is not the problem. The problem is the politicians who over many years allowed the distortion of government. God is eternal and at work in our daily lives of that, there is no question. The issue is our nation faces a continual battle of good versus evil. As individuals, we face this battle each day.

Therefore, what is good, simply put, it is God’s provision for us every day. The success of America as a nation is in following our Constitution. Our success as Americans is in understanding that the God of scripture is the designer of our form of government. Unfortunately, as a mankind genuinely tries to distort what our Constitution says as a nation mankind in the process has damaged our main foundation.

Scripture is clear there is no authority for government except from God. Our Constitution is the authority for our nation given by God. So why is it that we are working so diligently to destroy our nation’s God given authority? Here again the fact of God’s gift of free will to mankind presents itself. As a people, we must choose and the choices we make are not always correct.

Currently, politicians have the power; but the power was given to them through election by the people, or was it. If you look at the current election system, you will find “super delegates”, “lobbyist”, “corporate lobbyists”, “corporate money” and a tangle of other influences in Washington D.C. everyday. The common American is on the outside with a very small voice.

Many people do not understand that God allows things to happen so that the need for a relationship with Him becomes more evident. Our elected representatives are supposed to be Godly, honest, and trustworthy people. When elected they are charged with protecting us as both a nation and individual people against all evil.

When entering congressional office each representative swears for affirms the following oath of office, it has been this way since 1884.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

This brings to light a question. Why when charged with the support and defense of our Constitution is it that the politicians walk, further and further away from their support and defense of our Constitution. How much do you know regarding the person you given your vote to? Are you sure that person is properly representing you? Alternatively, do you cast a vote thinking it is impossible to remove a person currently in office? What does your conscience tell you concerning the person for which you are voting?

Do you realize the more you ask of a politician the more you may get; the other side the more it will cost you; the result is personal financial cost and a loss of the freedom God has provided for our nation . Each of us should learn what it means to be responsible and how to be self-sufficient. Overall expecting less will truly provide each of us with more.

We should never forget that America is a melting pot of many people and many cultures. Scripture tells us to respect the culture and custom of those around us. The taxes we pay are a result of what we asked politicians to accomplish rather than being self sufficient. We should provide honor to those who support, protect, and defend our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. God has provided us the foundation for this nation, the United States of America, unique to itself not intended to be like any other on earth.

Thank God, He gave us a conscience and the free will to make decisions. The question is when making decisions do we use God’s provisions appropriately? Is the God of scripture part of your equation when making decisions regarding the strength of our nation?

The choice is yours to make … united we stand and divided we fall
