Why Bash Christians?

Why is it that people “Bash” Christian America or Christians? Could it be that those who “Bash” do not understand what it is to be Christian? Why “Bash” David Barton? To disagree with the Christian American thesis does not change that the God of the Holy Bible is still the Creator. The question weather or not David Barton incorrect or correct all the time provides an open door to discussion of opinion; however, no human is 100% correct 100% of the time. The fact Mr. Barton was a high school teacher with no background in history when he started his quest does not negate his ability to do research.

Disagreeing with a point to view or thesis, on any issue does not change the view or thesis. If x2 + x = 6… the value of x is equal to 2. The only way changed the solution is to change the value of x otherwise the solution is always 6. What a person chooses to believe is theirs alone. There is no doubt that many people do not believe in the existence of the God in the Holy Bible. With respect, that does not change the fact of His existence. Holy God is not an algebra problem, God is the only true constant, He is the one who provides you with the variable of free will to believe as you choose.

Additionally, properly understanding Mr. Barton’s zeal for the “Christian Thesis” a person would have to understand that the thesis is not about a religion but rather a relationship. People will tell you what their religion is quicker than they will discuss their relationship. The problem people who do not have a relationship with the Lord God is undoubtedly their religion is put first. The question comes to mind, if a person does not believe in the “Christian Thesis” then what do they believe in and why do they believe that point of view.

What belief are they using for the basis of their discussion? Do they have faith in their belief or is their belief a human religion? Let us take a minute and look at “Enlightenment”, John Locke and Thomas Jefferson were both considered thinkers during the enlightenment period. Being an enlightened person is not by definition a bad thing. Information found at http://www.temple.edu/ih/Enlightenment/ Says that those who are enlightened have core values they consist of the following:

a deep commitment to reason,

a trust in the emerging modern sciences to solve problems and provide control over nature,

a commitment to the idea of progress in material wealth and in human civility,

a belief in the essential goodness of human nature,

an emphasis upon the individual as master of his fate and fortune, and an engagement with the public sphere of discussion and action

A Christian is an enlightened person; the source of our enlightenment is the Lord God himself. An enlightened person has a deep commitment to reason; Christians who have a relationship with the Lord God also have a deep commitment to reason? It is an amazing concept that people would believe mankind grew out of a stagnant gene pool. A Christian believes the concept of mankind coming from a stagnant gene pool is ludicrous. Using common sense and sound reason, that God our Creator provided for us; provides us with a clear understanding of how mankind came to exist. Trusting science to solve the problems of this world would not be possible without God our Creator. The more science tries to provide control over nature the more God shows Himself.

Do you wonder if the God of the Bible is the Creator? If you do, this is what scripture says:

Genesis Chapter 1

Creation of heaven and earth

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Creation of the light

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Creation of the firmament

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The earth separated from the waters

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Creation of the sun, moon and stars

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Creation of fish, fowl, beasts and cattle

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Creation man in the image of God

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Provision for food

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:1-31

Just for the fun of it, here is a scientific fact. God keeps trying to tell man, trust in him with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 paraphrased

As the scientist tried to figure out DNA, the stuff life is made of what do they find Laminin.

Laminin

It is interesting how Laminin, the protein that holds our DNA together, could have look like anything a circle, a square, a triangle. Yet as you can see, it is in the shape of a cross. To a Christian this is not surprising God is in everything; trust in Him and He will direct your path.

Christians too believe in progress, the progress that the Lord allows, if you stay inside of his will.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalms 84:11 (KJV)

As for material wealth, it is by His provision. Someone once said to those who much is given much is expected. The Lord provides for each person on an individual scale providing no more than each person can handle.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV)

Christians also believe that each of us has a sinful nature and that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ that His blood washes our sin nature away.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18 (KJV)

Please understand Christians are not sinless…They just sin less.

Christians believe that God provided each of us with free will and the choices you make are your own. You can choose follow Jesus or not to follow Jesus. Everyone should be aware that the choice you make is an eternal one. God made discussion and he does desire Christians to be involved in the world, just not be part of the world. Shoving God down somebody’s throat is not the desire of God; He desires a personal relationship with all those who are willing to have one.

The choice is yours to make… united we stand and decided we fall.
